PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – On Wednesday, a man was arrested and charged with murder as well as other charges relating to an Oct. 3 cannabis store shooting in which two people were killed.

34-year-old Jason Steiner of Gresham turned himself in to the police and was put in jail on charges of two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

The investigation found that the shooting happened after an armed robbery of the store by three people, Steiner was an employee of the cannabis store that was robbed.

The shooting happened in the St. John’s neighborhood at the La Mota dispensary in the 9400 block of North St. Louis Avenue.

Two people are dead after a shooting at a cannabis store in the St. Johns neighborhood, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

When police arrived at around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 they found two people dead.

The two people who were shot and killed were identified as 18-year-old King Lawrence of Milwaukie and 20-year-old Tahir Burley of Milwaukie.

One person who was involved in the shooting stayed behind and talked to police when they arrived.

“This has been an extraordinarily challenging and tragic night for our community,” said Chief Bob Day. “I want to recognize that any loss of life has ripple effects throughout our city. I’m grateful to all of the members assigned to patrol who answered these calls for service, and the numerous PPB members and partners who responded to investigate these complex incidents.”
