GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) – Georgetown police made arrests after they say drugs and guns were found on school grounds.

It happened over the weekend at Southern Elementary.

According to police, officers noticed “suspicious persons” on school grounds. Police say they recovered two stolen handguns and marijuana during the incident.

The number of suspects wasn’t specified, but they were arrested on charges of possession of a handgun by convicted felony, unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, receiving stolen property (firearm), using restricted ammo during felony, trafficking in marijuana, trafficking cont substance within 1000 ft of school, alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Police said in the post that many people have mixed emotions about marijuana and its use, but it’s still illegal in Kentucky, making possessing it a crime, excluding medical use.

They said the main reason they posted about these arrests is to point out that they often recover guns in these situations and to point out that it happened on school grounds.
