ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – According to court documents, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics conducted a surveillance of the marijuana grow, ‘NX Venture’ south of Ardmore when officers witnessed a man allegedly loading an ice chest and storage tote into a truck then left the business.
The driver was later pulled over for speeding and officers located 19lbs of unmarked marijuana inside the vehicle. Karim Thawar was arrested and taken into custody for possession with intent to distribute.
“There’s no transporter license involved, that has a manifest or shows that its a legitimate transporter,” Mark Woodward with OBN said.
Court docs state Thawar told officers he had allegedly bought the marijuana from a man who goes by the alias ‘Playboy Johnny’. Officers were able to determine that ‘Johnny’ was actually 51-year-old Dung Nguyen, alleged ex-partner of the grow’s owner, 49-year-old Sara Tran.
“They were growing marijuana at this location and moving it off of that farm onto the illicit black market here in Oklahoma,” Woodward added.
Woodward says a search warrant was executed for the grow in May.
“From there we don’t know if they’re all going to dispensaries, whether they’re going to the streets or going out of the state potentially to Texas, but they are all things we are continuing to investigate,” Woodward stated.
He says Nguyen and Tran are both charged with felony racketeering.
“Just talking to our case agents, they said that we are are very close to going to trail on some of these, they could be postponed but they could be going to trial very shortly,” Woodward added.
