BAY COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – At least two Bay County marijuana shops were broken into as part of a possible statewide string of burglaries.

Police say thieves broke into Puff Cannabis on Marquette Street a short distance outside the Bay City limits on Thursday morning. Investigators say the suspects threw a brick through a glass door to gain entry.

The thieves ransacked the store and made off with more than $21,000 worth of marijuana products.

Another marijuana store in Mount Pleasant was burglarized on Thursday morning. Several other Michigan police agencies also reported burglaries to marijuana shops this fall.

Police in Kent County arrested suspects in connection with the break-ins a few days after the Mid-Michigan incidents. Authorities are investigating whether the burglaries are related.
