SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A 21-year-old man was arrested after officers with the Natchitoches Police Department (NPD) allegedly discovered drugs and a handgun in his vehicle.

On March 26 around 1:59 p.m., officers with NPD’s Violent Crime Task Force conducted a traffic stop on Lake Street near Sewanee Street. While they were speaking with the driver, Braylin Demars, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. Officers asked him to exit the vehicle while they searched it.

They then found a loaded Glock 22 handgun, approximately 275 grams of marijuana and $1,260 in cash.

CRIME IN THE ARLATEX

Demars was arrested for possession of schedule 1 with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and was placed in the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center.
