When then GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump ran against his Democrat and pro-weed rival Kamala Harris, he said he supported rescheduling cannabis. While some considered his comments purely campaign talk, it seems clear the president is not in a hurry to make any significant changes to cannabis policy.

A White House official told CNN in a report published on Tuesday that “no action is being considered at this time” as far as marijuana policy is concerned.

The outlet also pointed out that talks about cannabis reform stalled well before the White House discussed the confirmation of Attorney General Pam Bondi, who now oversees the DEA as head of the Department of Justice.

Bondi, who replaced weed advocate and former Rep. Matt Gaetz when he ran into trouble with the House Ethics Committee, is far less supportive of marijuana reforms.

Meanwhile, a pro-weed group – the American Rights and Reform PAC- is launching a million-dollar ad campaign to win Trump’s favor.

Echoing the proverb “the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” the group is criticizing both former President Joe Biden and Canada—frequent targets of Trump’s political rhetoric.

In one ad, says CNN, the group attacks Biden for not fulfilling his promise to reschedule marijuana and the other takes a dig at our Northern neighbor for having the nerve to “cash in” on Washington’s anti-weed policies by allowing American companies to list on Canada’s stock market.

The group’s two ads praise Trump for supporting access to experimental treatments in his first term in the White House, referring to the Right to Try Act.

According to CNN, a lobbyist for Curaleaf Holdings Inc. CURLF is listed as the organization’s treasurer.

The two 30-second spots will air throughout April in Washington, DC and in the Florida media market near Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Palm Beach mansion, a person familiar with the super PAC’s plans told CNN.

Here’s a sneak peek at one of the ads:
