OROVILLE, Calif. – The Butte County Sheriff’s Office said it found around 1,500 pounds of marijuana plants in a U-Haul truck Wednesday.
Deputies say they pulled over Michael Daley, of Oakland, for speeding while traveling southbound on Highway 70 in the area of Garden Drive in Oroville around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. They say Daley admitted to officers he was under the influence of marijuana and that he smoked about 30 minutes before driving.
Deputies called in the California Highway Patrol and say further investigation of the U-Haul uncovered about roughly 1,500 pounds of marijuana plants.
Deputies arrested Daley and a passenger for illegal transportation of drugs and driving under the influence.
