Two men were arrested and three firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics seized, during anti-crime exercises conducted in the South Western and Eastern Divisions.
Officers conducted an exercise in the Point Fortin district around 7.40 p.m. on Saturday, during which they proceeded to Seventh Street, Techier Village, where they observed a group of men standing along the roadway.
On seeing the officers, the men fled the scene.
A search of the area resulted in one Smith and Wesson revolver, loaded with one round of ammunition being discovered in a bushy area.
Across in the Eastern Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday by Task Force officers led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man for possession of a quantity of cannabis.
During the exercise, officers went North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande, where the suspect was held.
Acting on information received, the same party of officers then proceeded to Foster Road and conducted a search which led to the discovery of one pistol, loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition, under a fruit tree.
A 35-year-old man of the area, was arrested in connection with the find.
And, in the Central Division, an exercise spearheaded by ACP Collis Hazel, was conducted between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday, during which officers went to a forested area off Todd’s Road, Caparo.
During a search of the area, a homemade shotgun and one 12-gauge cartridge were discovered.
Investigations are ongoing into these matters.
