The amount of marijuana sold in the state’s dispensaries is up about 23%, although the revenue from sales is down about 3%, according to figures released by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration Wednesday.
Arkansas medical marijuana dispensaries sold 62,118 pounds of product through the end of October this year after selling 50,406 pounds during the same period, Jan 1 – Oct. 31, 2023.
The cost of those sales is down in 2024 as patients have spent $227.8 million through October compared to $234 million a year ago. Department spokesman Scott Hardin said the increase in pounds sold and the decrease in revenue was a reflection of lower product prices.
In a report on the sales since August, Suite 443 in Hot Springs continued to be the top-selling dispensary in the state. The Hot Springs store sold 773 pounds in August, 719 pounds in September and 727 pounds in October.
Medical marijuana patients in Arkansas have spent $1.27 billion in the state’s dispensaries since the first dispensary opened in 2019.
A pair of state taxes on medical marijuana have brought in $25.8 million this year.
The Arkansas Department of Health reported 106,937 active patient cards this week.
