The New Jersey Cannabis Chamber of Commerce (NJCCC) launched recently with a business and networking event at a county club in Central Jersey.
The event featured a cocktail hour and a panel discussion. The panel consisted of Simply Pure Trenton dispensary of Ewing CEO Tahir Johnson, Financial Resources Federal Credit Union [FRFCU] Retail Sales Manager Daura McMahon, and Can-Emilia LLC Cannabis Investor Kiran Koranteng.
The NJCC invited cannabis entrepreneurs and industry experts from across the state. They provided networking opportunities for attendees to explore business strategies and financial support options.
Guests learned about how to start a cannabis business, funding and licensing, and where to find financial support.
Attendees enjoyed a cocktail hour and light fare. Then Tahir, Daura, and Kiran discussed how they got into the cannabis industry, how to get started, and how they found investing and financing.
Alongside the panel discussion, attendees were given the opportunity to network with each other.
“The turnout for our first event, Secure the Bag, was absolutely incredible, and the love and support we’ve received from attendees has been overwhelming,” said NJCCC Director and Founder Beth Conway.
“We’re building something special. A place where New Jersey cannabis businesses can come together to expand their networks, access resources. And give back to the cannabis community. This is just the beginning, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead,” she added.
“We stand at the forefront of an exciting new era for the cannabis industry in the Garden State,” said NJCC Chairman Brendon Robinson of Mudd Brothers. “We are laying the groundwork for a thriving community that empowers entrepreneurs and drives economic growth.”
The NJCCC said its mission is to empower cannabis businesses across New Jersey. They want to offer a space for support and networking, ultimately increasing the state’s cannabis industry footprint to help increase the green space in New Jersey.
In addition the NJCCC also explained they want to unite cannabis and non-plant-touching businesses to foster growth, innovation, and social equity across New Jersey’s cannabis industry.
According to a press release, the NJCC said, “We advocate for equitable access, support diverse entrepreneurs, and empower communities impacted by cannabis prohibition.”
Conway told Heady NJ they do not intend to be as political. Instead, they want to work on the nuts and bolts of business to help their members.
The NJCCC said they provide tools to accelerate business success and promote best practices through events, education, and networking.
Scott Rudder and Ed DeVeaux have called the NJ Canna Business Association (NJCBA) which they have led “the NJ Cannabis Chamber of Commerce” when describing their organization. They have been at the forefront of the New Jersey cannabis industry and legalization movement.
Jersey’s other cannabis industry group is the NJ Cannabis Trade Association (NJCTA). It has been dominated by large corporate Multi-State Operators (MSOs) since its launch.
