A string of text messages seen on three mobile phones led to the downfall of a Rochdale drug dealer who ‘thinks he is untouchable’.
Officers raided the home of Usman Alam where they discovered cannabis, weighing scales and the three devices.
Greater Manchester Police says the phones contained a ‘wealth of evidence that showed overwhelmingly’ Alam was involved in the supply of cocaine and cannabis over a four-year period.
The 36-year-old also stabbed a dealer who worked on his behalf – before threatening to ‘bomb’ his relatives.
He appeared in Manchester Crown Court yesterday (June 16), where he was jailed for more than six years.

Officers stormed Alam’s home back on January 5, 2022. On the three phones, they found messages from between 2018 to 2022, showing Alam involved in the supply of a ‘wholesale amount’ of cocaine.
GMP says the texts also showed Alam to be involved in the production of cannabis across England, as well as street-level drug dealing across Greater Manchester.
Officers also examined Alam’s bank account and discovered it received £370,216, with no sign of any legitimate wages being received.
GMP says Alam went on to stab and assault a male who was dealing drugs for him in 2024.
Alam accused the victim of stealing drugs from him, after an amount of cannabis was stolen a few days prior.
He then headbutted the victim before taking a knife and striking him with the handle numerous times, slicing and cutting him.
Later the same day, Alam made threats to ‘shoot’ everyone and ‘bomb houses’ of family members associated with the victim.
Alam pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply at Manchester Crown Court.
He also pleaded guilty to Section 20 assault (grievous bodily harm without intent) and making threats to kill following the incident last year.
Alam, of Law Street, Rochdale, was jailed for six years and three months.
Detective Inspector Richard Castley, from GMP’s Serious Crime Division, said: “This sentencing sends a clear message that drug-related crime will not be tolerated.
“Over a four-year period, this individual amassed nearly £400,000 through his illegal drug operations.

“The violence he showed by the brutal beating of someone he merely suspected of stealing from him, demonstrates the dangerous nature of Alam and how he thinks he is untouchable and not to be crossed.
“We remain commitment to dismantling Organised Crime Groups that cause immeasurable harm to our city-region.
“GMP will continue to use every resource us and we will use the full force of the law to identify, investigate, and prosecute those who profit from drug dealing and distribution.”
