ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) has issued Minnesota’s first cannabis business license to Herb Quest, LLC, a microbusiness in Brook Park, Pine County. Herb Quest will focus on outdoor cultivation of cannabis plants.
“Issuing the first business license is a major milestone for the office,” said OCM Interim Director Eric Taubel. With over 600 businesses nearing application completion, Minnesota’s adult-use market is beginning to take shape, Taubel said.
OCM announced a new window for verifying social equity status from July 7 to July 21. Changes in cannabis law now include stays of adjudication and adjudications of delinquency as qualifying criteria. Verification is essential for those seeking a license with a social equity classification.
On August 1, OCM will open applications for cannabis testing facilities, crucial for the state’s supply chain. Max Zappia, OCM’s chief regulatory officer, emphasized the importance of testing facilities in ensuring public health and safety.
Additionally, OCM will accept applications for cannabis event organizer licenses starting August 1. These licenses allow for temporary cannabis-related events, limited to ages 21 and older, featuring the sale and use of cannabis products. Local approval is required for event activities.
