[#item_full_content] President Trump has directed the White House to work with Congress to keep hemp consumable products legal, reviving hopes that hemp will be a valuable market for farmers. The president signed an executive order Dec. 18 to promote marijuana and hemp as prescription medicines. Because of the order, demand for hemp may “skyrocket,” U.S. Hemp Roundtable general counsel Jonathan Miller said. But there is an obstacle. Just five weeks ago, Congress outlawed almost all hemp-derived consumable products, such as drinks and gummies, beginning on Nov. 12, 2026. The White House will seek to keep beneficial hemp products available, while preserving Congress’ intent to restrict hemp products that pose health risks, according to the executive order.
