[#item_full_content] For the past year, Leroy Hall has been the co-owner of Hemptations LLP on W. 26th Street. “We’re just a hemp dispensary,” said Hall. “Everything here is federally compliant, under the 2018 Farm Bill. That’s all we really do here. We keep vapes, flower, concentrates, edibles, slushies, and drinks. Everything hemp based.”According to Hall, the company sells Delta-9 THC products, which are legal in Pennsylvania. “Delta-9 that everybody hears about, is the mitigating factor of what defines hemp compared to medical marijuana,” said Hall. “That’s the one cannabinoid that is used to measure the 0.3% level to differentiate between hemp and medical marijuana. All of ours (products) fall under the 0.3% Delta-9 dry-weight requirement.” Last week, Hemptations served as a vendor at 8 Great Tuesdays, where they sold Delta-9 THC infused slushies, known as Dope Daiquiris. “It’s from a company out of Austin, Texas,” said Hall. “It’s reputable company. Everything is consistent. Lab-tested, and that’s why we use them.” Meanwhile, Erie Events received a complaint after two people became sick and went to the emergency room after consuming the slushies.According to Hall, Hemptations was approved to serve as a vendor by both the Erie County Health Department and Erie Events. “They vet everyone,” said Hall. “It’s not an easy thing to even get a table down there.”Hall says they had signs and FAQ pamphlets at their table, to inform customers about their products. “I just know we had plenty of signage,” said Hall. “We’re just trying to educate people about everything.”According to Hall, the cups Hemptations used also had a hemp leaf on them, along with the words THC infused. “I try to make sure that people are confident with the product they are getting, that they are confident,” said Hall. “I don’t want anyone to have a bad experience.” Erie News Now spoke with Erie Events Executive Director Gus Pine about the situation. Pine tells us that the Erie County Health Department is still looking into this incident, and once they wrap up their investigation, he will determine if Hemptations can serve as a vendor once again at 8 Great Tuesdays.
