More than 150,000 marijuana plants found by authorities in Lassen County

[#item_full_content] LASSEN COUNTY, Calif. – The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and Lassen County Code Enforcement uncovered a large-scale illegal marijuana cultivation operation in northern Lassen County.In a post made to social media, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into the grows began in June and led to the execution of search warrants on 47 separate parcels.According to the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, personnel flew over several suspected cultivation sites with a helicopter and determined marijuana was actively being grown at those sites.Authorities say none of the grow sites were licensed by either the State of California or the County of Lassen.During the weeks of August 17-21 and September 7-11, deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the California Department of Justice – Eradication & Prevention of Illicit Cannabis and the Bureau of Land Management executed the search warrants at all of the parcels.Personnel from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office located approximately 151,177 marijuana plants and 19,973.27 pounds of processed marijuana during the service of the search warrants.In addition, 11 firearms were seized from cultivation sites during the two weeks of operations.The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office says thousands of pounds of garbage and dangerous pesticides were also located at the sites.Many of the sites were found to be diverting and polluting water from nearby streams.Detectives from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office are committed to bringing those responsible for the illegal grows to justice.The owners of record for the properties will be taxed based on the size of each grow.The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance with the operation:Lassen County Code EnforcementLassen County Environmental HealthLassen County Road DepartmentCalifornia Department of Justice – Eradication & Prevention of Illicit Cannabis (EPIC)Bureau of Land Management  Read More
